String tightening

Unread post by JTR101 » Fri Oct 01, 2004 3:35 pm

some times the strings on myt guitar will tighten on there own no matter where i keep it. I've heard of them loosening and going out of tune but not getting tighter! Any idea what would case this at all, and any idea how to prevent it??

Haha.... first off Yeah NL is for Newfoundland and second i do not keep my guitar in a Freezer! Right now i am actually living in Southern Ontario so its not that cold here.

I have a Washburn D10 with D'addario strings, and for the most part it stays in tune wonderfully and i have no problems. Like i said though some times its like the strings tighten witch is really weird obviously.

For the most part i do keep it in the case so its not because i'm accidentally hitting the keys or anything.

Any clue?? :?

the tuning keys could be hitting the case when its in there, or when you put it in/take it out. thats happened to me before, i just tune after it take it out.

That could be it i guess, but it happens to maybe four or five strings!
Kind of unlikely i hit them all, I know you guys are probably as confused as i am.

Thanks for trying!

is the flap that covers up the little like case you can put extra stings, is it on the case, or open, if its open that would hit more strings

My B string does it too... I dont think all the 'rest' are detuning equally either.
