I played with a guy last weekend that plays a fender strat. I play a Les Paul. His highs are so fucking whiny and loud with those single coils, while the lows are still twangy but not as overbearing. My main problem with Fenders is the lack of balance in tone that single coils give you. I'm a humbucker man all the way.

This guy is the opposite, he hates humbuckers. Yet he was going on about my "fat tone" the whole time he was there. I was just like "Buy a Les Paul motherfucker!!"

I would put my bank account that if you heard them you could NEVER tell the difference. actually i was gonna make my first electric an american made fender, just by reputation. i played one, liked it at first.

then i started messin around with other stuff, and i spent 6 months searching for the electric guitar i wanted. played my Godin and loved it.

the reason i started this thread was because i just played a G&L and holy crap it sounded so much better than any strat ive ever played. if i ever get a stratlike guitar itll be a G&L
