I want to buy a Takamine guitar...

Unread post by Xoosh » Sat Feb 22, 2003 8:14 am

well i've listened to enough howie day shows to be convinced that takamine is the way to go for buying a performing guitar. Obviously i think martins have it made for the acoustic route, but i really just think that howie's guitar sounds incredible... and i want to be able to match this... does anyone know of any good tak's for under $1100? I want the best quality... im thinking either rosewood back/sides and spruce top or koa wood.... based on my style of music.

regards,
x

I think for a good Tak, you might have to fork out close to $2 G or more. but I could be wrong.

if you're interested in a tak, look at the fd360sc. it's a real nice guitar, with an AMAZING onboard preamp. you can find it a lot of places for anywhere from 1000 to 1100.

Everybody always asks me how she's doing. Has she really lost her mind? I said "I couldn't tell you, I've lost mine."

oh yeah :? I keep forgetting about that! my cousin bought one here in Halifax I think it was for a little under 2G with a case. It has an onboard pre-amp and friggin sounds amazing plugged in. just rings, man. And the action is incredible. so translate that price into U.S. is probably about $1300 or something. he said that he prolly could've shopped around for a better price, but he just really wanted one at that time and so picked that one up. I forget what model it was its like a sunburst with black/green on the outside, fading to like an orange/tan to the centre. excellent guitar.
good, and you?

my first guitar (and current guitar) is a Takamine EG531C (u can see it at their website). when i got two years ago, it was around 500 bucks.

its a sweet guitar, and i have no problems with it. it ESPECIALLY sounds nice when u plug it in.

i know there are better Takamines out there, but thats all i could have afforded at that time.

I give my guitar "two thumbs up" and i do strongly recommend ANY takamine

Wow, that site has some cool guitars. I just looked at some of those Martins and was amazed. That D-45V looked so damn sweet, I would love to hear one of those things, not to mention play one.

I couldn't find that the first time, but was quite amazed and amused at the same time. "It must be in "similar" condition as when sold to you. That means a small mark is ok on a guitar we sold you new, BUT if it's got a broken neck, was painted seasick lime pink, and then dragged 4 miles down a gravel road....it is NOT in similar condition! (Lord knows we wouldn't have sold one of those!!)." Thats really funny and reminds me of my AutoCAD teacher a lot.
