Takamines are really cool. Every one feels like they are the creators baby. Attention to detail is amazing on the Takamines.

They make some cool preamps too.

theyre in a different catagory. taks are mid range acoustics, while Taylors and Martins are high end.

I don't totally agree with that. Takamines are getting more and more acknowledged as high end.

It's time for a another giant to get a piece of the pie.

And once again, Takamine makes really cool preamps that you wont find on any taylor or martin.

Might add that electronics are very important when I'm looking at guitars.

Not all Martins and Taylors are high end. You are much better off getting a $500-$600 Tak than a $500-$600 Martin or Taylor.

And not all Taks are mid range, either.

i agree with the $500-600 Tak thing, however a high end Taylor will sound better than a high end Tak

I would agree that a 500-600 dollar Martin is not high end, but I have a Martin DCX1E, and I love it. I have a DCX1E and a D16RGT, and I prefer the DCX1E for its playability and sound.

Whether your guitar is high end or not doesn't really matter. I've played $100 pawn shop guitars that sound good enough to record/gig with.

The thing about an expensive guitar is more than just the sound. How long will it last and how good does it stay in tune, for example.

Other than that, I totally agree. A cheap guitar might suit me better.

I personally hate taks. I can't really say why but whenever I hold and play one it just doesnt seem right. Martins and Taylors depending on what model you get are very well done in almost every way imaginable. They are the only guitars that I know of that can cost up to and above $10,000 and be worth every penny. Daves 914 i think it is costs about 9,500 if i recall correctly and the 714ce about 7,000 or so. Martins and Taylors are also more popular amoung famous artists. You dont see many amateurs with them because of their prices but once you get advanced enough they are really worth saving for. Taks....are cheap for the most part, some are really good but most....in my opinion, really sound like crap and feel wrong. I don't like the actions at all. Just my opinion.
