Indiana Fiddlers Gathering Bluegrass Festival

Unread post by grock » Mon Jun 28, 2004 3:27 pm

So there is a weekend long festival in Battleground IN every year that i go to. It's awesome. There are fiddles and Banjos and mandolins as far as the eye can see. We stayed up so late just pickin'. and people come from all over as this is like the biggest grass roots bluegrass festival in the country.

So, i know you are wondering what this has to do with guitar gear. well, in bluegrass and american roots music, there is only one brand of guitar; Martin. If you are ever wondering how to get that tone like in a bluegrass song, it's a martin. everone has martins. Everything else is looked down upon, but Taylor is despised.

So one of the groups was a fiddle/guitar duo was more of a Celtic group. And they definately rocked, but the guitarist had a Taylor. He was kinda losing his hair a bit like any old man might. so i made the comment that "his hair was thinning almost as much as the tone coming out of that guitar" to which everyone around me just burst out laughing.

oh taylor... you will never be bluegrass...
