Well, we still need a price range to work with. And if he doesnt have much money, he might be better off not gettin an acoustic with electrics, does he really want/need them if hes just starting out.

I know theyre out of his price range, I was being a smartass because you didnt really give one. Id look at some Alvarez's, theyre good in that price range. Take him to a guitar shop, ask a tech to play some nice $500.00 range guitars and let him get what he likes, its his guitar. No ones gonna tell you what to buy, just give you theyre own opinions, its up to him.

I have a Carvin Cobalt series C750S, that I absolutely love. not very expensive, but it has a great sound and comes with a fishman preamp plus. It's kinda sketchy because Carvin is only warehouse direct, so you can't hold or play the guitar before you but it. But they have a great return policy, and since it's factory direct, you save money.

Bottom line, high quality guitar, not much money.

No I think only the 650 and up. And they are really nice, I love mine and can't put it down. Compared to my friend's shitty LTD acoustic/electric (horrible, never buy!) It sounds like a $2000 guitar. The electronics in it are just sooooooo much better. Can't go wrong with fishman.

Alvarez's are real nice for the price! I got mine as my first acoustic (drednought) for like $260. Sounds just as good as higher priced guitars too! I think an Alverez acoustic-electric should run in the low $300s. They have that nice on board electronics too! I shoulda got one of those! I'm getting a Fat Strat pretty soon and a Fender 65W amp!

Yep, their cheap, good quality, and have a nice sound and a low action.
