mixer question

Unread post by skpr41 » Mon May 24, 2004 4:10 pm

how do you guys connect your mixer to your pc/soundcard?

i have a eurorack ub802 and just connect one of the main outs to my soundcard via cable and 1/4" to 1/8" adapter. i'd like to connect the two channels (left and right) of the main outs of the mixer and combine them to get stereo recording, but can't seem to find a dual mono-to-single stereo adapter.

can anyone help? thanks!

because they don't make them. Or rather, they are not sold in common stores. The better solution is to get a stereo RCA to 1/8" cable, they do indeed make those, and then plug it into the "Tape Out" connectors, as this is what those "Tape" things are for afterall.

thanks!

actually, i did more research and i was able to find a cable at musiciansfriend.com. it's a trs connector on one end and dual mono on the other. i think this is just what i was looking for. hope it works.

btw, i tried using the tape outs and didn't like the quality. then again i may have been doing something wrong.

I would guess you are bringing it into your computer via a "mic in" then. Tape out is "line level" and is made for a "Line in" jack and beyond that it is the exact same signal as the "Main outs". I hope that cable didn't cost you too much, because the next thing you could have done was buy a pair of RCA->1/4" mono adapters that would have made that. Anyways, glad you got it figured out.

i did have it connected to my line in via a rca to 1/4" stereo adapter. for some reason it was a bit noisy though. going through the main outs seemed alot cleaner.

oh and the cable only cost 5 bucks. s/h cost more tho :?
