D'Addario phosphor/bronze (uncoated of course) are the best strings on the market and don't let anyone else try to convince you otherwise.

i think this pandoras box is almost as bad as the taylor/martin argument

may I ask...why uncoated? I've never tried coated so...what's wrong with them? Do they sacrifice tone/sound to last longer or what's the deal? :?:

Martin vs. Taylor is the second most hotly contested issue here on the boards, this is second.

This is my personal choice.

Though the elixer's are excellent as well...

Do a search on the boards, there have been many arguments (well, sorta) regarding martin acoustics vs taylor acoustics and which is best.

Elixir is the best, light, or custom light depends on how good you are, get Nanowebs for sure, NEVER get medium or heavy unless you are as good as dave!

that's very debatable. personally, i don't like elixir's. they sacrifice tone in the long run for feel and long life. d'addario's have always been my favorite, and after trying elixir's once, im back home. elixirs are too slippery in my opinion. for some songs with huge stretchs, the strings are so slippery that there's no grip to keep the chord in place. and they keep getting gunk on the strings. if you really want long life and slipperiness, just get d'addario exp's (which i also like). and i also never get anything but mediums. just my opinion tho. by the way, the gauge of string you get isn't dependent on how good you are at guitar. it affects the tone the string will produce, so a bad player can player can play a medium gauge the same as a great player can. its just that mediums are harder to push down so most new players should stay away from them.

Hey guys... would you mind giving me like the exact kind(or a link from musiciansfriend.com's site would be great too!)... I'm a newbie and I'm finding that there are SOOOOO many different kinds... Even if you tell me d'addario I find hundreds of those type. In case you haven't noticed, I have no idea what I'm doing yet

Just gettin' a Washburn D10S soon, and I've heard that you want to put new strings on lower end guitars and they'll sound amazing?!\
