seagull/washburn.. help! :)

Unread post by snoopdoug1 » Tue Jan 28, 2003 3:48 pm

So I've been reading(and hearing) a lot of good things about seagulls... Anyone on here have one? I can't seem to find a place online that sells them and so I can't find approximate prices for the guitars... I just wanna know if they are going to be in my 300 range?

Also, does anyone here have a washburn d10s? If so, how does it play?
I'm kinda debating the washburn d10s, the seagull s6 spruce top, and the garrison g20/g30. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks a bunch guys! I feel like buying my first guitar is like getting my first car! I want to make sure I get something decent!

i have a godin electric which is made by the same brand that makes seagulls and its awesome. if theyre as good as making acoustics as they are at making electrics then youve got a really good acoustic guitar. not quite taylor quality, but then again nothing is

The Seagull guitar is a great guitar for the price range you're looking at. I would recommend the Seagull S6 or the M6 with either spruce or cedar top. Whatever YOU like the most. The Washburn and Garrison are also good choices - so play em all and pick the one you like best.
good, and you?

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions...

THe thing is, the washburn would be almost 150 dollars cheaper than the seagull/garrison... which is a big deal... I'm a beginner and if I don't stick to playing guitar... then I'd probably be happy to have saved the 150 bucks. know what I mean?

Decisions decisions...

btw, GREAT COVER of grace is gone gravedigger... if I could only play like that. :)

thanks, man

yo, the Washburn is a great beginner guitar, and don't be ashamed if that's all you can afford right now. I say go for it but play it first and make sure you like it. I'm pretty sure you will.

peace
good, and you?

which is why i said, "hope", because that isn't always the situation where if you pay more for something, you're for sure going to get that money back when you sell it :)

Also, grave, thanks... I'm thinkin' I might have to do the washburn... I just don't think I'll be able to play it first. I guess if I get it from musiciansfriend, then I can always send it back within like 45 days or something... at least I thought I saw something on there site like that. Are they a pretty reliable source? Or would anyone recommend a different guitar site w/ the washburn?

Thanks again! :)

I dig my Seagull S6 (cedar). My first guitar, and it served me well.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one. They sound pretty good for a guitar that price, and I think they look pretty sweet, too.

seagull = definitely a great first guitar

the only complaint ive heard about them is that some models have a wider neck than most guitars (???) and it is hard getting used to, but i dont have a problem with it

are washburns regarded as low grade acoustic guitars. they must have made some good ones because i bought mine for $800 used. It has all those sparkly things around the hole and at the head of it. mine sounds real nice too. Also, something about Seagulls, iv seen them a lot in guitar player magazine and they're beautiful. The wood just looks really nice!
