a bunch of stuff on my electric...
ok, so i play mostly acoustic - my first guitar was a crappy 80 doller squire strat i bought off my friend, i learned dave on it amp-less for 4 months till i got an acoustic. the strings sat on it for the year and half i have been playing my acoustic, i dabbled at some tunes on it, but nothing big
i FINALLY changed the strings, after the 14th fret started to buzz, at the advice of matty. i'm starting to get real big into SRV and clapton, bb king, jimi, and all those cats. i'm planning on getting an amp this summer, a wah pedal, and either an effects box or a pedal - so what i need is:
what to do about a buzzing 5th fret, a and d strings mainly. probably neck tension - anything i can do myself or should i just shop the thing?
i want to start getting a feel for amps - something good all - around i can play with. i think fender? makes like a blues jr., or some name like that, i was tinkering with at the guitar shop. i also kinda like the marshall G10/15. i dont want to spend more than like 200/225 on an amp, unless i get the job i want this summer. even then, i need to save money
my friend has this little box, about the size of a VHS tape, with like 200 effects in it. you run your guitar through it to whatever, and it sounds sweet. i gotta ask him what brand and crap, but he said it was like 150 - thers no pedals on it, just a little electronic thing with buttons and a screen. anyone have experience with these?
thats pretty much it, i'm probably gonna start taking lessons as well, so i can hear people tell me how i learned to play guitar all wrong, but i want to learn some lead. if you could help with any of these, reply, PM me, or AIM me at misc1585. thanks folks

If it were me, I would take the guitar to the shop to stop the buzzing. Considering you got it for $80, and it will probably cost $50 for a setup, it's your call on whether or not you go for that.
I dont' have much knowledge on amps/costs, so I can't help you there.
The only effect advice I can give you is that if you get a wah pedal, go with an Original Crybaby. It will probably cost about $70 or $80 and it will sound the best on a fender out of all of the wah pedals out there.

Those look like a pretty good deal to me. But I'm not sure, so don't take it to the bank.

Think about buyng a Korg PX4. It comes for 200$ and has a lot of cool stuff: a couple hundreds of effects, an option to record riffs from a CD and slow them down to learn them without changing the pitch, the CD imput to play along with recorded music, a drum machine with a programmable virtual bass, handy for improvising.
The unit is incredibly small, even less than a VCR tape, non much more than a cigarette box. You culd run just with a couple of headphones or with a small amp; the little marshalls and peavet are really good and cheap, but maybe you can save by playng with heaphones for some time, and take a cool amp when you realize what sound you like best.
