no, the longest delay pedal ive seen lasts up to 5.2 seconds of recording time (or something like that), and it repeats itself and gets continually softer.

a looper records something longer, and repeats it exactly as it was recorded.

He does use that, but he only started line 6 stuff in the past few years.

His main delay loops have been
the boss DD5 and Boss Dr. Sample.

To see all that he has used from past and prsent (including guitars) here's his equipment page:

I just wanted to add my $.02. A delay is basically an echo with a delay on it. There are different kinds, the most prominent being an echo that fades away but this is not the same as a loop. If you were to listen to Howie Day, you would hear both a delay and a loop. He, like Timmy uses the DL4 and layers his sounds via a loop. He'll play a guitar line, loop that over and over and record bass, vocals, drum beats over that all in loop. Every now and then, he'll add delay to his vocals or guitar as well. If you want some specific examples, listen to a live version of "Ghost". He starts out with a looped drum beat and then adds layers of different guitar parts and a bass part. You will be able to hear the delay he puts on his vocals quite clearly as well. Hope that helped...

[edit] The Line6 pedal is capable of doing both delay and looping. It has about 16 or so delay modes - all really cool - and one looping mode. If you want it explained in detail, shoot me an IM at Devils08 - i own both a dl4 and have owned a Boss DD6 (which is an exclusive delay pedal-no looping)
