Anyway, i already know i should get a better amp because of the changes in my praise band coming up, but a friend just asked me to be in a band playing electric over DMB music in a coffee house type deal.
hopefully ill be getting a job next week, because if not theres no way this is possible.
anyway, i went to a local shop today for the first time shopping for a tube amp. brought my Godin with me to be sure itd be a sound id want. they had a fender blues jr, whatever is above that in the fender line, and a marshall JCM2000 DSL somethin or other. i didnt wanna play the marshall because if i did i knew it would be torture, seeing as its the $1500 head + the cab.
it was really different than my amp, just by how it worked. rather strange. i found it hard to get a clean tone out of it when it was at a high volume, and it does get extremely loud. i do like that about it. even when fat was turned off it would still get distorted. unfortunately the distortion wasnt that great sounding.
when i was playing it was alright, but i said 'hey itd probably sound better if a guy who knew the capabilities of the amp would play, so wanna take a shot?' to this one guy in the shop who id already seen was really good. the guy made it sound great. maybe just because he was incredible heh.
anyway, id like to keep looking around. i know i like marshall better, but i know that i cant really afford that. the guys there told me if i didnt like the blues jr. i wouldnt like other tubes. i already know thats not true. i love my friends marshall
i was told to look at Traynor amps. i know it doesnt help for much but the clips on musiciansfriend of the TCY40T sounded incredible. i think the T means it has celestion speakers in it, which are the same uses in marshall, if im not mistaken.
anyway, just thought id share a little bit.
by the way.... guys there loved my Godin hehe.
