Best strings

Unread post by ledzepp4l » Tue Apr 20, 2004 12:34 am

Just wondering what you guys thought the best strings to play are. Acoustic of course. I am using elixirs now and they are pretty sweet. Thanks.

I don't think I have ever bought the same strings twice, except for elixir nanowebs. I like em. I have a set of Martin SP mediums and I really don't like them as much as the elixirs.

Wow. Original and thought provoking question. :)

I use rubber bands. Or sometimes floss if I cant find any rubber bands.

regular old phosphor bronze.... i probably like the D'Addario's the best right now but they dont last as long as Martins

i dont think it matters as much as everyone would think, i usually just ask the guy for whatever phosphor ones are cheap, i think they sound the best and they cost about 1/3 of elixirs

I prefer D'Addario EJ16's on my guitar, but each string will sound different on different guitars, and the tone of strings will sound better or worse to each individual. Moral of the story: Every time you change strings, try a different pack. Pretty soon you'll find the ones you like the best.

Best strings is all relative. No such thing.

Elixers are my favorite though. The Polywebs are a little hard to get used to, but I think they're pretty sweet. I've had the same set on my guitar for a couple months now, and I go through strings pretty quick.

well yeah the cost 1/3 less but they only last for about a week or two.

i've tried cheap strings and i really like them but i just love how you can buy a set of elixers and leave them on for over a month and they'll still sound good. cheap strings die too fast :(
