Dave's Guitar Strap (PLEASE HELP!)

Unread post by projectmahem » Wed Apr 14, 2004 1:48 am

(excuse my grammar) Okay guys. I need some help from all you fellow Dave followers. Almost a year ago, I decided i had to have this strap that dave uses. its the most common one. the black leather one with the brown oval logo. (planet waves 25SL00) i went online and found it at over 10 different places. i found the best price and ordered it. when it got to me, i was so disappointed to see that it didnt have the brown oval logo. instead its a cheezy looking small rectangle that says planet waves. black like the rest of the strap so theres no contrast at all. anyway, ive searched the entire world wide web (and im not kidding) the strap i got is the new model and the old one that dave actually wears has been discontinued. i can tell you several disappointing horror stories about what ive gone through to find this strap but i dont want to bore you. anyway, i guess my reason for this post is to ask all of you if anyone can offer me any information on where i can find one. i figured if no one here can help, then im sol. maybe one of you has an extra i can buy or even knows where i can get one. i would appreciate it so much i cant even tell you. well hope to hear from someone. have a great day and thanks very much... davefan

I see them at Guitar Center. I don't think their strap inventory moves very quickly. You may be able to find one there...or some other guitar shops.

It's a guitar strap. No offense at all, but why is it such a big deal to just get dave's? I just went down and found the best one that fit my shoulders (and I got Tim to sign it, too). It's very nice leather, and is very flaxable for the way my shoulders are built. Your shoulders and comfort zones aren't going to be like dave's, so you should find the one that will fit you. Also, a little rectangle verses an oval, I don't see really a difference.

Again, no offense, but I just don't see the point, no offense.

i agree with rantman. if you want a good strap, grab fifty bucks and buy the thickest leather mother you can find. :)

NO OFFENSE... but you ever hear of a collector? or someone who is determined to find something strictly because someone he admires uses it? i dont care about the comfort or the price. like you said, its just a strap. also if you knew me youd know that a hobby of mine is tracking down items i like that arent easy to find, because either theyve been discontinued or whatever... so i figured why not use an amazing resource like this site to try and assist me. for all of you that posted with possible solutions i thank you so much, for the rest of you, dont waste my time or yours with your useless opinions. theres plenty of political sites for that - peace out

Hey! I was trying to help. That's all I do here. Sorry, I didn't see the point in collecting just a guitar strap. I also thought you just wanted a guitar strap, and admired dave's, and I was trying to say there could be better choices.

Don't lash out like this, or people on here might lash back (but it wouldn't be from me, I am a pacifist and I only believe in peace and love). I hope you have luck onthe boards after a comment like that (that was not sarcastic).

Levy's Leathers makes straps with that same brown oval logo. The only way you can tell the difference between Levy's and Planet Waves is if you get close enough to read the name.

If I was a collector I would be looking for something a little more interesting than a Planet Waves strap. Maybe you should sneak up on stage at one of Dave's shows and take his while he is playing. Now that would be something that would be worth collecting. you could follow him around from city to city and when he starts playing just run on stage and rip it off of him. Soon you would have a collection. Anyways ovals, rectangles who cares one day the rectangle ones will be discontinued too and then your ahead of the rest of collectors

NO OFFENSE!!!

Id get the levys that dave used to use. Seriously, the best 10 dollar strap you can find. Very Comfortable and a cool little design
