Unread post by riffduster01 » Sat Apr 10, 2004 10:17 am

I have been taking lessons for about a year but I had to stop. I know maj/min scales, the 5 pentatonic boxes and a whole bunch of chords. plus a fairly large amount of thoery.
so,
I was wondering what your opinions were which instructional books are worth purchasing. please dicuss, with specifics.

some examples are:
-fretboard logic
-fretboard roadmaps
-Guitar grimoire
-ect...

We can't do a thing about it"

It's hard to recommend specific books because they will have a different angle on each topic. You may find a book that you understand but it only confuses me and vise versa. That being said I really dislike the grimoire series. I do like Musicians Institute Press and Cherry Lane makes some well laid out scale books. I usually spend a good amount of time in the music store going back and forth between books.
Somehting else to keep in mind: DVD's. In June John Mclughlin is coming out with a 3 disc instructional dvd. I'm waiting on that before I buy any more books.
