I hate guitar center.

Granted, there's lots of them, and they're convenient, but they almost never have anything decent in the way of acoustics. If they do the sheer amount of people in and out guarantee that any guitar worth buying will be purchased immediately, before you get there.

I checked the one here in Indy and their humidifier is always set waaaaay too low, they're destroying what few decent guitars they've got.

Shop at Mom and Pop guitar stores, or one of the larger locally owned guitar stores, like Wildwood or Buffalo Bros. They're cheaper and you'll get better service and policies. Feel appreciated. Don't buy from the Walmart of guitar stores.

Oahu, i couldn't agree with you more. Guitar center is a good place to pick up small things ( strings, picks, capos, etc...), but for actual guitar purchases, you get MUCH better deals at mom & pop stores. Not to mention, you don't have to put up with the comissioned salesmen that GC throws at you.

Couldn't agree more. I went in there this weekend-- guitars were pretty much neglected. Most of them were out of tune... they did have a few nice overpriced Clapton signature martins, though.

I am going to disagree because my store rocks the hizzy. They got 2 hd-28v, 3 hd28, 1 hd35, 2 714ce, 2 814ce, 4 514ce, 5 110ce and soooo much stuff. Granted that my store is in a major shopping area so they have to stay up.

Cool, Indy. Castleton? Yeah, the guys walking around were really nice to me.. but the people working the checkout were dicks.

Go to a place called "Guitar Works" in Greenwood ( I think..) They're great

I went to a GC the other day and it was a million times better than the local mom and pop store. They're Nazi's at my local store. They literally have someone sitting outside the high end acoustic room at all times ready to pounce on anyone who go's in there...that is if you look younger than 30. Mom and pop stores can't afford any mishaps so a lot of the time they are super up-tight.

Yeah, but it's only natural. They don't want to lose quality stock.

I've never had a problem with GC. Got my guitar there for a sweet price. I'm not complaining. And they're well-stocked.
