I got a Hohner O series cutawaty. It's got a pretty full sound for an acoustic/elec cutaway. It had a pretty clean action when I got it, but I had the guy at the local music shop adjust it a little (had some buzz on the low e string). I got it for 240$ (off ebay) I love the woods used, and just liked the looks. It's got a Shadow P4 pickup system, but I haven't heard it through a quality acoustic amp yet, so I can't really comment on the plugged in sound. It's my first acoustic and the price was right, and it sounded pretty good so I went for it. Definitely recomend tryi8ng one out if you don't have the $$$ to spend on a taylor/martin.

It's the EA65CEQ I didn't put the pickguard on though.

you could wait and buy an acoustic electric when you have more money. otherwise i wouldnt think its worth it.

Not really. If you want a good pickup it will cost as much as your guitar. Shitty pickups are bad news. Anything under the $100-$150 range will more than likely sound like crap...but if you're just looking for something to enable you to play along with a drumset or something, those cheaper pickups will get the job done, I guess. I would recommend saving the money and waiting until you can get a new guitar.andyrice_13 wrote:sweet... is it even worth it to put a pickup in a 150-200 dollar guitar??

It's a fine pickup, billy, but it's nowhere near the best around.

no way were you screwed. $50 is a good price on the unit. you just had a sales guy who was a little dishonest about his product.

I have Martin DXM

This was my first guitar and I think it's a pretty decent beginner's guitar. For a guitar whose body is all laminate it has a nice warm sound. I got the guitar, hardshell case, strap, and stand for about $400 (list price = $619 because my uncle was the VP of finance for music123.com and I live near one of their two retail centers. It's kept satisfied for 4 years and my dad often likes playing it instead of his 1970's Guild D-35.
I'm looking for an upgrade in the near future, something like a D-17.
I also have a 1962 (or '63) Fender Jazzmaster
that will be getting fixed this summer along with the purchase of an amp. In the picture, that's not it's original finish.

my guitars
my main guitar these days (and i'm almost ashamed to say it) is a Harmony Flat-top acoustic, model #H0401P (couldn't find a pic)...lets put it this way: it has 18 frets (12 before you hit the body) and only the first 4 or 5 can be played without major buzzing...
my other acoustic (a Decca DMI 122) is only useful as a decoration...it was given to me last summer by my girlfriends mom and i re-strung it only to find the action was about 1.5 inches from the fret-board)! yikes!! anyways, i'll hang it in my guitar room someday (like i said) as a decoration...
Finally, i have a guitar i can be proud of...a Gibson-Epiphone Les Paul Standard in Translucent Red...only problem is that shortly after i bought this guitar about 6 months ago i got HEAVY into acoustic guitar and haven't picked it up in literally 3 months! i'm thinking i'll sell it (i got a good deal so i'll still make money on it) and get a decent acoustic-electric...any suggestions would be much appreciated!! i'm looking for something in the $500-1000 Canadian range...anyways, i couldn't find pics of the others but here's one of my Les Paul:

Since I'm reletively new to the guitaring world, I have my first guitar, an Art & Lutherie. It's actually quite nice. Sure it's not as sweet as a Martin, but for the price (About $300) its one hell of a guitar. This baby has base! The jamming I can do in drop-D is amazing! Plus its just the right size for me

The Fender DG-10LH..i've had her for 6 months (she's my first guitar). She plays well, not great, but she'll do for now. I've played Tears in Heaven and Unforgiven (Metallica) in Church (:lol) with two friends on this thing, and it did good. Actually, you could hear me over their electric guitars!
I'm looking at getting either a Taylor 314CE lefthanded, or Alvarez Yairi DY-88bk Lefty...we'll see what happens.

my first guitar was a jasmine by takamine s35. a piece of shit, but my first love. one of these will run you a whopping 100 bucks or so. kind of hard to play, but has a solid top so it sounds ok for a beginner's guitar.
the new love of my life is my tacoma DR20. spuce top, rosewood back and sides, abalone soundhole inlay. the sound is great-- warm and bassy. the highs sound nice and sweet too, without being too bright or metallic. it's pretty loud as well, i can always hear myself even when i'm jamming with 2 other people (not that that's always a good thing). this was a graduation present, i believe it cost around 800. anyone looking to buy a guitar in the 500-1000 range should check out tacomas. they own the forests that they get their wood from, so they're able to make quality guitars for a reasonable price. i still think i'll end up with a martin someday, but this guitar will definitely serve me well until then.
