I'm still about getting a 714, a W65, and then just some crazy exotic guitar they've got with just gorgeous wood...other than that, I'm a Martin guy, but one day I'll get a Gibson J-200...

It's not that the 610 is harder to play. It's that the 714 sounds better than the 610 will when played softly. But the 610 will sound better when played loudly. If you do a lot of hard strumming, look at the 610. If you do more finger-picking stuff, get the 714. Dave has a few 714's in his arsenal. I really think that in the end, it's just whatever you like the sound of more. Because truth be told, saying that the 714 is better for fingerpicking and that the 610 is better for volume is just splitting hairs. Both are incredible guitars that will do whatever you ask of them. My 714 can get very loud, and when I want to be loud, I just plug in, so i don't have to worry about strumming hard. And the 610's are also good at soft stuff, just not quite as good as the 714.firedancer86 wrote:I appreciate your expertise on this...

THATS LOOKS SWEAT...
so the 610 is harder to play...(if yoouve played one, compare it to a Chett Atkins SST)
I know I'm asking alot of Q's, but...

But where would I find a 610 le to play???ticohans wrote:I'm much more a Taylor guy than a Martin guy. Taylor seems to really be moving in the right direction. They keep trying to develop new things, always going forward. I think Martin does a lot of sitting on its laurels, which are well deserved.
Its not going to be sitting in a store...

i'd check in your phone book at all the guitar shops, find the certified Taylor dealers, and ask them. if you have a guitar center in your area, check them out. they always have HUGE selections of Taylors.
Elliot, yes they do make an 814. And do you guys remember the cocobolo wood I mentioned the other day? Well check this out... ohhhhhhh

most beautiful wood on the planet, and has one hell of a tone.

if you can find a guitar center anywhere even close to where you are, i'd check it out. if i were doing the shopping, it would be worth it for me to drive a few hours to play one if i were going to drop $2000. That being said, I have total and complete confidence in Taylor. I think they are the best manufacturer out there, and I would feel comfortable buying without playing before hand if I had to. It's your money. I can tell you the 714's are amazing. And I'm sure the 610's are out of this world. If you want to hear a 714 in action, check out some of my songs on crimsonphantom's ftp. All my songs are on my 714
