Godin's are great guitars. I wouldn't be worried about resale value too much, unless you plan on reselling. But if you want to get yourself a good solid guitar, a "keeper" so to speak, forget the resale stuff, especially when you can throw up an ad on the internet. I'd go for a Godin before the others, I think, as they'll give you the most bang for the buck.
About the woods, I'm fairly certain that the AAA wood is a better grain than the A or AA woods.

Per the Strat/Les Paul debate, it's all what you play: if you want to rock, Les Paul slaughters the Strat. If you want to play jazz, it's the Strat all the way. But if you're playing jazz, I'd look at a good hollow body as opposed to a strat.

Agreed...hollow body sounds get you the better jazz presence...maybe a Gibson es 135 or a gibson es 175 (my personal fav.--the STEVE HOWE model!) and so on...the Gibson classic series will get you that kinda jazz...

Strats are ok, but I just don't care greatly for them...
in other words, I would rather have a Gibson :D

I've been thinking about adding an ES-135 to my collection, and I can't afford it at all, but I'm still considering it...it's only money, right???

id say i have to agree with gcom on the amp.... (this is a record, isnt it? lol) if youre gonna play electric, go for a tube. as for the guitar, i cant give you much advice, since i can barely play electric. all i can say is keep in mind the style of music you play when you pick out your guitar. everybody will tell you to pick up a nice gibson les paul but it might not be the right guitar for you. electrics have much more varied sounds than acoustics, so pick one that sounds good for the stuff you play....
good luck

electrics are a lot of fun but it all depends on your style.

i just went to a local place that sells godins and i played the lgx.. lemme tell u it was the single nicest guitar ive ever seen/played/heard in my entire life.. the action was incredible.. and it has the two-voice feature where it has a great electric sound and an amazing acoustic sound.. it even blends the 2 together  .. it had a cherry sunburst finish on a AA or a AAA quilted top.. i think im going to go for that and a 10-15 watt marshall..

go for it man, whatever fits you best...just make sure it isn't a scam or something for the price drop...check the neck well...play all of the note (making sure they all sound sweet) but you prob already know this stuff!

If it seems good to you, get heavy on with it
