His Taylor 12er is a jumbo. I could be wrong but I don't think Taylor makes 12's in any other body style.

Allright, back to my thread. I've shopped around, played Taylors, Martins, Breedloves, Takamines, but I only fell in love with one name brand. Larrivee. Everything they make is a gem. Oh and I also discovered my disdain for Taylors. Sorry for those of you who have them, but to me, they aren't worth my money/ears. I played a HD-28. Thought it was pretty good, but it didn't feel like home. I narrowed it down to three guitars.

An L-09 flame maple ($1265).
Image

An OMV-09K with beautiful Koa, a venetian cutaway, and amazing resonance ($1850). This ones a lefty, but they have a righty too, I just cant find a picture.

And an LV-09W with the venetian and walnut back and sides that would make anyone drool ($1865). I can't find a pic of this one.

The Koa and the Walnut have Sitka Spruce tops, and the flame maple has a maple top. All three of these guitars are orgasmic, I'm leaning towards the Koa because of it's warm tone and projection. But, the Walnut sounds incredible, and looks a-fucking-mazing. The flame maple has such incredible tone and it looks damn cool. Damn I'm torn. Hmmmmm I want the Walnut right now, but I'm sure my mind will change in 10 minutes. FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU HAVE COME TO THE LIGHT SIDE! ONCE YOU GO LARRIVEE YOU NEVER GO BACK! I love em all as well but id go with the 2nd or 3rd ones. The top one loks real pretty but the tone on 6 string maples back sides doesnt have the bass response it should imo. still a fantasitic guitar

Any way you go I think you're gonna have a great guitar. Larrivees are extremely under-rated. You might check the specs on that maple, Larrivee builds almost exclusively with sitka tops and from the pic you posted it looks like it is also sitka.

I know Dave records and plays D&T shows with Dreads and plays with the band with GA's.

The V might just stand for vintage, referring to tuners, or bracing or soemthing.
actually dave records with a lot of jumbo's, when miced they sound amazing, and with the band he plays dreads. the dm3md,and the taylor are both dreads
He might record with jumbos, but I know he records with the DM3mD a lot too. When with the band all Ive ever seen him play with lately are his Taylors, all of which are x14 models, which are GA's, not Dreads. So, you are wrong in some of those aspects.
well, the taylor may be a GA but it looks, feels and sounds like a dread.

ive seen him record with the dm3md, but most all guitar i see him record with otherwise are jumbos, the yamaha he used for UTTAD and Crash i think, and BTCS he had a gibson jumbo or two in there. and then the new album ive seen him play a lot of jumbos.
must have been cool to be in the studio like that
Shut up, it looks, feels, and sounds like a dread. No, it looks, feels and sounds like a fucking GA. I have a taylor 410, and it looks, feels and sounds like a dread because if fucking is one. The guitar is a GA, you were wrong just admit it.

And, btw, him and Ranting were there for all recordings of Dave, so trust theyre foremost expertise
i said they were GA ass, i said they feel like a dread, i dont research taylors numbering system. also there are videos everywhere of dave in the studio, we know he used the country jumbo in UTTAD and crash from what weve been told, ive fucking got videos of BTCS sessions if you want them, and theres a bunch of videos on the new album site with dave on a guitar, many of wich are jumbos.

The Walnut is a little steep, but if I pay cash I think he'll cut me a deal for around $1750. I think I'm going with that if I can coerce my parents into lending me some extra cash. Damn I wish I could find a picture of it, you guys would nut.

Hey Kahn, I don't know how you feel about buying via the internet but here's a good deal on a new J-10. I bought my L-03R from this same dealer a little over a year ago and my experience with them was good.

holy shit that is a wok of art. For $1499 I would jump on that, but I'm a little weird about buying shit over the internet. The same guy has one on e-bay with an Eagle headstock thats absolutley gorgeous. I'll let you guys know what I decide on in the next couple of weeks................ if anyone gives a shit.
