I am seriously looking at a Tak. G-Series to be more specific. On the G-series page it says some have the "TK4N preamp" and other select guitar have the "N4B preamp" . Is there much of a diference between them? Is one leaps and bounds better than the other? In case anyone is wondering, the specific guitar I am looking at is here: http://www.takamine.com/?fa=detail&mid=876&sid=69# Not top of the line or anything, but better than my Washburn D-10 I think

well play it, or look at it in real life, i dont know about their nato wood, some kind of laminate i think the guy said its like maple. just play it and if you like it its good, the preamp is good though i can vouche for that.Sort Of A Protest Song wrote:I thought it was all red, and it was just the way the light was hitting it made it look blue on the sides.

top is 90% of the soundfilmdude100cms wrote:i have laminate back and sides on mine, sound fine.
5% is the bracing
3% is the saddle and nut
and the last 2% is back, sides, bridge pins, etc.
so if you have a solid top, back and sides dont matter too much

i know, and i also knew in my price back and sides no matter where i looked would be laminate... so why not have laminate koa instead of rosewood or mahogony? itll sound better.praisedave wrote:top is 90% of the soundfilmdude100cms wrote:i have laminate back and sides on mine, sound fine.

Cool, I never knew thathcole wrote:Most Taks have laminate back and sides, if you plan on using it amlified a whole bunch then the laminate isn't necessarily a bad thing as it's less prone to feedback.Sort Of A Protest Song wrote:Laminate eh? I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the info on the Preamp though.

i got it on that deal. BUT that doesnt come with a case, so you have to get one, mine cost $100, BUT he gave it to me for free, and since i got in tennessee where they have basically 10% sales tax getting out of there for like $550 is good.Tranman66 wrote:hey, congrats on the guitar.

Played this guitar today at guitar center along with the dred that looks the same. Really the like them both, especially the dred if I can get it with electronics. I need to play some washburns in my range before I decide. My price range is the same as yours and will probably buy one or the other in about a month or so when I have the cash. Congrats.
