Well I went down to the guitar center today and before we start guitar center bashing I just thought I'd mention I had a really good experience and leave it at that lol.

ON TO THE GUITARS!

So I tried hella guitars today. First, this is off topic, but I thought I'd mention it anyways> hey its my fuckin thread anyhow...

So I tried the a couple Taylors. I'm not sure what these other letters and numbers mean but I'll list em anyways.

Taylor 714ce WC AE CTWY Cedar Top RW Back and Sides W/ Exp
Price: $2499.99

Sounded great, looked good. I think the strings on it were medium gauge and I'm more of a light/extra light gauge, but either way it was cool.

Taylor 614ce WC GA AE CTWY Spruce Top W/ Expression NAT
Price: $2699.99

Man this guitar looked beautiful. And played even better. Personally I liked it better than the 714ce. It had a bit of a lighter sound to it.

But anyhow, back on to the electric guitars.

So I started off with some Gipsons and then tried some other stuff too.

Gipson LP5+LBNH WC Les Paul STD AA FIG TOP W/50S Neck N
Price: $1999.99

This was a pretty damn nice guitar, but since I didn't have much to compare it to, I couldn't say much at first. Later when I made the guy get me a piece of crap electric I then learned that the guitar was pretty damn nice.

Gipson LPGC GOPL BNH WC CST Shop 1960 Les Paul Authentic
Price: $2699.99

Again, a very nice guitar. Personally though, I didn't think the difference in price reflected the difference in sound between the two guitars.

And then I found this guy...

Fender 010 1302 703 WC Amer DLX Strat V Neck MN 2 Color
Price $999.99

This is the one I liked the best out of all of them. First off it was beautiful, and secondly it sounded amazing. In fact, I thought it sounded nicer than the $1999.99 Gipson. Sure the sound was different, but when you pushed the S-1 button, it made it sound nearly the same. The other reason I liked it was because it fit right into my price range.

So lets talk amps now, cuz I'll need one of those too. I found this Crate amp that sounded great, but it was too big and expensive for me. Since I'm not in a band, I don't really need a huge amp ya know? I'm looking to keep my amp in the $150 range for starters. Just a small one for my room. Any brands/ recs?

That spider II 112 Combo is pretty sick looking. I might have to punch out an extra $150 for it.

We'll see what the guy down at guitar center can do in terms of lowering the price for me. He said he'd cut me a deal (which I know usually is bullshit) but either way I'll see what he has to say.

whatever he says he'll charge just say "wel..... i was really only lookin to spend (20$ less than that)" they'll keep on cuttin. then have your mom or your landlord or whoever come in and be all "YOU WERE GONNA SPEND THAT MUCH FOR THIS GUITAR THING!" and blamo, you can get anything for like a shiny penny

the Les Paul Studio. It sounds just like a standard, plays just like a standard, does everything a standard does. The difference, it's rid of all the flashy parts. It's stripped and great. I love my studio, I don't want any other Les Pauls, just my studio. The mahogony is good, but imo the studio feels better.

Les Paul is extremly well rounded, and can play almost every style out there. I see country musicians playing it, jazz, blues, rock, folk rock, ect.
Yes, I am in a box
