Buying a new guitar
i can drive... i choose not to drink and i still dont like fenders. Ive played many of them. i dont like em. i dont think they're worth the money. But, i mainly an acoustic guy so it might just be that i dont really prefer the "electric" sound. Plus i dont like the styling of the strat or tele. too typical
edit: plus we have an underground of people extending as far as malasia, all are members of the fender sucks club. we're a worldwide organization growing in numbers. (currently 6 bajillion) we have some moles in the system and we're taking it down from the inside...

Fender acoustics are crap, no one will argue with you guys on that one, but how can you saty a strat sounds bad? What are you playing that sounds sooo much better?kcw wrote:I really hate fenders too. Well not entirely. I really like fender Teles. I hate strats. Sound terrible and feel terrible. A friend of mine plays a fender acoustic I've never played it but it looks kind of cheap. I dont know about that one though.

Gibson SG. Thats one of the best guitars I have ever played. Strats really do sucks. I love Teles. But Strats feel weird and really......it depends on what you use it for. Strats arent bad if your using distortion but without any effects it sounds like crap.

I was going to get a strat because Mark Knopfler, Jeff Beck, SRV, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, David Gilmour, and that Hendrix guy used them but now I’m not. Thanks kcw... I'll take your word instead of theirs.
And before you mention dates and such… and that it was sold to CBS... many amazing musicians were/are playing contemporary Strats... SRV for one. (RIP)
Again... thanks. I'll put my money back in my wallet.
And if Dave Matthews and John Mayer are the two you pointed out that are better than you... may I suggest listening to the following... Andres Segovia, Mike Bloomfield, Wes Montgomery, Tony Rice, but to name a few. Actually forget all the others. Though I'm making a huge assumption, if you haven't heard him... just listen to Tony Rice, and maybe some Paco, Al and John, “Passion Grace and Fire.â€

OMG...I have been watching this post as merely an observer and laughing pretty hard....but this statement...i'm sorry, that's the funniest thing I've read in awhile.Strats really do sucks. yeah, the strat, the most ubiquitous musical intrument on the planet and the guitar that rock and roll was pretty much created on...yeah, that one...is a piece of shit. whew! thanks for the reality check.
give me a break...you don't like the way it feels in your hand and so it sucks? i'm not crazy about the looks of the strat either, it's commonality will forever invoke the image of the mullet-wearing-cheesey-wedding-band-guitarist in my head. but i can still appreciate the fact that it can pretty much do a little bit of overything. any lack of quality coming out of a well-made strat is coming purely from the guitarist and not the guitar.
