About a month ago I walked into a pawn shop and they had 3 pig nose base amps- new ones. They go for $80 apiece in Musicians friend, and I got all 3 for $30, sold one on ebay for about that much, so basically I got 2 of the base pignose's for free. They are great and fun to mess around with. The only thing is you can't get clean out of it at all, and it turns out you don't really play it much when you've got a Blues Junior sitting beside it.

Larrivee D-03K

Unread post by thebartender » Sat Dec 18, 2004 9:38 pm

Bought this guitar 2 months ago from triple R guitar in Lemoyne, PA. Got it for $903(including tax). I absolutely love this guitar. By far the best guitar in the sub $1,000 category(although I was impressed Alvarez guitars also). The bass is strong and the highs crisp. This guitar really excels in the mids though. Absolutely great tone. The Koa is beautiful and makes this guitar aesthetically pleasing also. The action was wonderful when I picked up the guitar, but the low humidity in my apartment has changed that some, but I recently bought a guitar humidifier and it has improved that a bit. I think that you have to get a taylor 514 or martin D-18/28 to beat this guitar and they start at 1.5-2x the cost of this guitar. I highly recommend it.

Well, I got my CompROSSor in today. It is one fantastic piece of machinery. When I first plugged it in, the feedback was enormous. That was my fault..I had turned some of the knobs too high. Now that I have it fixed ("Sustain" all the way, Volume at about 8 o'clock, and Attack right at 12 o'clock), this thing is amazing. Before, when I'd use my TS9 and this new amp I have, the combination was very hot, and powerful, but it could hurt your ears REALLY quickly. Not now...the Comprossor smooths things out, bringing every note to your ear, and with the TS9 set to full drive, it is beautifully crunchy. I love it, and I've only been using it for about 30 minutes. Wow is all I have to say. It is a huge improvement to my setup. Before, with just the TS9, my chords were too crunchy and loud to play a lot of rhythm, forcing me to do lead (which I didn't mind at all...but it's nice to have chords back). Now the chords are crunchy, yet soft, a perfect sound I must say. When I spoke to Mike (Analog Mike, http://www.analogman.com), he said that they were really busy last week, and a couple of his guys were sick, so that is why it took so long to get here. Well, it was worth the wait. Wow. I can't stop saying wow. It's THAT amazing. It fixes those up the fretboard B and E string notes that used to hurt your ears. Just fantastic. I'll take any and all questions.

Blueridge dr-160. Whoever posted above was not lying. This guitar compares to a Martin HD-28V! It's the hidden jem of guitars all because its $499 tag. I initially bought it to beat on but ive found that i play it beacuse it sounds great.

Blueridge's are made in japan i think, maybe korea. But they get great reviews from everybody for thier price, I havent picked one up but I have seen them around in smaller dealer stores once in a while. You can get them off elderly.com sometimes, or ebay obviously

Ahhhh, the famous Elderly. This is my home guitar shop in the middle of little ol Lansing MI. I have never seen a blueridge there. Now that i know how well mine sounds, im going to play it to a few Martins the next time im back home in MI just to see the look on everyone's face. I dont like that it's made over seas, but the quality and $ make up for that 10 fold. I purchased mine online after reading many steller reviews on it. I found a place that sells it for $499. I figured it would be a worthy beater, when in fact it has turned out to be the focus on most of my strumming.

Thats my guitar too, but it's the BR-160  . Best purchase I've ever made. Sounds better than any Taylor or Martin I've ever heard. Of course you have to deal with the drawbacks of a $500 Chineese guitar, as mine is currently in the shop getting new tuners cause the low E from the original set just fell apart, but it gets $2000 + worth of tone. Plays well too.
