First Guitar - Which should i buy ?

Well if you're into stuff like Dave that means you'll want to learn to play stuff like Dave, so I'd say get the steel stringed....I've never played a classical guitar, but from what I can tell they do sound different, no worse but different. But back to what I was saying, get a steel stringed guitar or western as some call them.

they sound different, and they're not made for strumming.

makes you put more effort into making it sound decent, though. i played dave on my $90 dollar nylon for about 2-3 years, and i went along just fine with it. people were impressed i could get decent strumming sounds out of such a crappy guitar. ;)

again, if it's your first guitar, i wouldn't worry too much about sound. buy something decent that'll help you in the long run overall. going from my nylon to my taylor was smooth. i know a lot of people who were bred on steel-stringed guitars first who just couldn't play my nylon at all strumming, let alone fingerpicking.

the nylon is easier on a beginner's hands, too, and you still develop callouses from playing.

great for working the fingers when doing dave stretches. :lol: i remember when i played #41 on my nylon then my taylor. easy peasy.
