Taylors are beautiful guitars, but I don't think that they sound nearly as good as an HD-28, quite possibly the nicest guitar I've played. I also think that Taylors play a whole lot easier though, they play a lot like an electric. That being said, I really like the 714. I would gladly sacrafice easy playing and cosmetics (I can't spell btw :)) for great sound. Two more months for an HD-28v!! woo! :)

Its all personal opinion

yea i think Jkanter said it best with the Mercedes/BMW analogy. Taylor's take pride in having the prettiest guitars and martin takes pride in having the best guitars.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

m98ter ive had real life experience with the D-16RGT and Taylors, i actually spent a weekend around a D-16RGT. while for a martin it sounded good, it didnt compare.

It's definitely not often you hear "for a martin it sounded good!" Anyway though, to each his own......and to some extent I'm guilty too considering if anyone asked me what guitar I'd buy if money were no object I'd probably say a Breedlove even though I've only played two in my lifetime. Heck, maybe I'd even agree with you if I ever had a chance to play a few taylor's.

Don't mean to rain on your parade but if I understand you correctly you will have to pay $600-700 in addition to the $500 store credit they are giving you bringing the total to $1100-1200? This seems high for a D16RGT. I bought mine from Elderly for $888 last May. Most dealers will cut around 40% off of list for Martins and list for that model is $1479.

If I misunderstood, sorry, just want you to get the best deal you can.

Congrats on a great guitar. I have loved mine.

Well, I figure that its going to cost around $1100 from them, and I know thats a little high. What I can say though is that they're giving me credit for a POS guitar that isn't worth $150,I'm a big believer in playing the actual guitar I'm buying beforehand, and I like to support my local mom and pop stores. By the time I sold my guitar and bought a new one from Elderly, I can gurantee you that I'd spend more than just $600 on top of my current credit.
