ok anyway, ive been looking a lot and reading a lot of reviews. and the epiphone les paul seems to be the best guitar i can get for the money. i can get one for about 400 dollars. the general statements against have been the tuners, the pickups, and the pickup selector switch. it seems i can replace the tuners and switch right off the bat and save up money for good pickups. so i guess that's what im going to get.

if anyone knows of any other electrics i can get for around 4-600 that is a lot better than the epiphone let me know. outtie

I have me a Mexican strat, My dad kinda suprised me with it one day. He bought it off his friend who put custom pick ups and stuff, it sounds great for the price the guitar actually costed. Just before I was jamming with the Allman brothers , well not exactly jamming, i was just in background pretending I can actually play a lead like one of them. I can dream....

Appsoldier, you can get an American Telecaster for $679 @ Guitar Center. Great guitars. I sent you a PM saying the same thing, btw.

well, for me, a les paul is a les paul, and not a strat or tele ;) .

(you all know what I implied there, so lay off the mocking posts on this one :P )

isaac wrote:all right, i need some advice on what electric guitars to take a look at. i've already asked fatjack and elliot and they've helped me a lot. i have some options i'm seriously considering, but i'm going to take a look at others just to have some perspective.

any suggestions on amps and pedals are also welcome.

basically going to purchase this guitar in about a year or two after i save up enough money, which'll include graduation present money, and will most likely be in the neighborhood of a minimum of 2-2.5k.

so with that in mind, i'm looking for an electric that i'll be pretty much set with for a good long time. probably going to play a lot of blues and jazz, if that helps out any.

with elliot's advice, i've started heavily considering doing a fender custom shop order and picking myself up a Closet Classic Olympic White 60's strat.

http://www.fender.com/gear/gear.php?partno=0150700

still thinking about possible cosmetic touches...but i have a year and a half to deliberate that. ;)

anyway, any help is greatly appreciated. :) thanks ahead!
Wow, I feel like a jerk. I never made that example for you.

Well, I don't have school today, I can probably do it for you.

do you look at a guitar or make music or noise w/ it?

and yesterday I found myself enjoying Tele's for some reason...not like I love Strats, but I think I'll pick one up at some point...maybe I'll get one for Christmas/Birthday (12/26...paypal gifts to NotMyself0283@hotmail.com ;) )...

true, but you can't tell me that if 2 guitars make similar noises that you wouldn't pick the one that looks better. i thought the tele was ugly too. i don't know, im just torn about the whole thing. maybe ill spend my money on a 12er and say screw electric guitar.
