yeah, I got my taylor 310 for around 800 total with taxes and it comes with a hardshell case right off the bat...I've heard of people working better deals than that even...you just gotta deal with them, they may advertise one price but you can work most stores down.

yes you can download the price list from Taylor, but you won't pay those prices unless you buy direct from them. I would urge people to also seriously consider getting a good used guitar. That will always bump the price down quite nicely.

do you mean what's the MOST you could get for $2000??? The link is from this page:

http://taylorguitars.com/guitars/models/

up in the right hand corner, circular link with a headstock image, and it says price list.

Well, for 2000, hold up a bit, and let me check the lists, and ill give you an idea.

I can read...but the list you gave me was the list prices right?

What is the best Taylor I could get if I plopped down $2000 on the counter of a guitar store?

And I try that link in the corner, but it just gives a stupid box...no instructions or anything...

I want a 714...I hate cutaways and onboard electronics...they don't make an 814 either! GHETTO!!! 714 though will be a nice purchase for me sometime in the next year or two.

714ce
712ce
610ce
W10ce
maybe 612ce
maybe 810ce
2002 610ce-LTD- VERY nice guitar.

A few notes on the guitars. I assumed you'd want electronics and cutaways. I find both very useful. the 12 series' are great for amplification, but not as good if you're going to play unplugged as their size doesn't kick out much volume. The 14's are a GREAT body shape. I have the 714ce, and I'm sure you've read my postings on it here. Great guitar. Personally, the only Taylor dreadnaught that I'd consider is the 2002 610ce-LTD. The old Taylor dreadnaughts aren't voiced too well. They're still GREAT guitars, but weren't as good as the other models. For the 2002 limiteds, the dreadnaughts have been revoiced for the 500 series and up, and the new sound is supposedly REALLY good. That 2002 610ce-LTD is one of these newly revoiced dreadnaughts, and it's got some AWESOME maple on it. Check out the link:

http://taylorguitars.com/guitars/models ... 2/600.html

You can find the Guitar Player review on the net; they gave it the editor's pick.

I would go with either the 2002 610ce-LTD or the 714ce. Both are GREAT guitars. The 610 will give you more volume, a brighter tone, and is just dynamite plugged in. The maple back makes it great for amplification as it really provides good clarity and minimizes feedback. The 714 is probably a little more versatile, as it will respond better to a lighter touch. This is not to say that the 610 won't, but the 610 is a dreadnaught, while the 714 is a GA model. The 714 is also darker and warmer in tone: I personally LOVE the way cedar sounds. It's my favorite top wood out of what I've played. But to each his own. You can decide for yourself which you like more. But if I had $2000 for a guitar and it had to be a Taylor, it would be one of these two puppies.

I appreciate your expertise on this...

http://taylorguitars.com/guitars/models ... 2/600.html

THATS LOOKS SWEAT...

so the 610 is harder to play...(if yoouve played one, compare it to a Chett Atkins SST)

I know I'm asking alot of Q's, but...

He's got great feedback, so I wouldn't be worried about the validity of the seller, and the pictures look good. I haven't played a Koa back, so I can't give you the in's and out's of it, but it looks like a deal. If I had played a koa before and had the cash, that buy it now option would probably be gone :)

Seriously though, if you haven't played a koa back before, I'd hesitate.

Also check out this site for GREAT handmade acoustics.

http://www.samusic.com

free shipping, even a return period on all guitars bought. There are some really nice makes in there. I'd look at some of those, too, especially the northwood OM's and MJ's.
