i think a guitar (taylors especially) look better without a pickguard. i would take mine off but im to afraid to hurt it and i dont want that tan line. i think that it looks better just to leave it on than have that tan line.

well I took mine off my 814 almost right away...so the tanline is already gone...and even if there is a minimal one, it just looks like a clear picgaurd...I was VERY careful when taking it off my 814 though...just need to take your time...visit

and search for "pick gaurd removal" and you will see that while it seems crazy, it is very easily possible...

dammit fire, you're making me want to take my pickguard off.

you better do it quick man!
the longer you wait, the harder the tan line gets and is harder to fade off...

if you strum alot and are prone to hitting the finish, I would leave it on (although you wouldn't harm it that much)...

you see, I fingerpick alot, but I also strum a whole lot...I got used to playing on my Chet (no pickgaurd) and that got me ready...I have yet to scratch that hard gloss ANYWHERE on my Taylor...it holds up SO well...

anywho...do it soon if you want it done at all...just take your time and be careful...taylorguitarforum.com has a bunch of threads on it (I thought I sent you those links over AIM Jay) if you are interested...
