"Not a huge fan" does not mean hate, first of all.

Second, do you like brussel sprouts? Rhubarb pie? Shepherd's pie? All of those are institutions of America.

but who says i love america?

just kidding, but gibson guitars have played such a huge roll in so much great music. not only rock and roll, but blues, jazz, everything.

led zeppelin, black sabbath, frank zappa, ac/dc, allman brothers band, bob marley, bb king and countless others all play gibsons

So that means he should prefer it? There is no logical justification for saying someone should like something because others in the past have.

i didn't say he should like it, i just don't understand how some one could dislike something that is such an instrumental part of something that they enjoy, but then again that would assume that enjoys any music played on a gibson.

but lets just agree to disagree, when in rome, okay?

I feel like Fender and G&L are much more versatile. I never said I dislike Gibsons, I just prefer other electric guitars. Gibson already dominates the mandolin market, its time to share the wealth

Yeah, I respect Fenders and like when others play them, but like I said I think they are hard to play and Gibson makes a badass semi-hollowbody. Since I play jazz 90% of the time, it's the tone and feel I want.

I think it just depends on the setup on the guitar. I have a mexican tele but it has a great setup and plays like butter.

I do love gibson electrics though, especially their hollowbodies

I just noticed that MF is having an epi sale!

Those are really nice guitars and 199 is a steal for worn brown!
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

It is not about the guitar...it is about the player. Just because BB King plays a Gibson doesnt mean I have to like a Gibson. Like Cor said, I like people who play Gibson....all they need to do is get a good strat and Ill like them better

are we talking from a tone point of view or a playability point of view?

Well my primary acoustic is a Larrivee and it has a pretty wide neck, so I prefer playing Fenders

Both.

My SRV sig is perfect to me. I have bigger hands so the big neck just feels natural and everything just seems to flow better on that guitar. If I play and tele or a les paul...I dont know, it just doesnt feel the same. And while I do enjoy Humbuckers sometimes, single coils give me the sound I want.
