You stomp them, they make a percussive noise.

thanks for the link maton those look real sweet. Do you actually own one of those?

edit: Also the other night I saw a guy do an acoustic set at a bar and he had this little thing at his feet that almost looked like a small tambourine. It made the sound of one too, any ideas what that could have been?
I want one too. For $150 its not too bad either, but then again my guitar doesn't have a pickup and I don't own an amp...hahaha. But they are pretty sweet.
You dont need a pickup in your guitar for it to work :? If thats what you mean. But yes you do need some sort of ampification for the box. A PA would be fine.
No, I know that. I meant that if I got one of these and an amp, then I would probably want a pickup for my guitar too (to also play through the amp).

Evey Hammond: I can see that.
V: Of course you can. I'm not questioning your powers of observation, I'm merely remarking on the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.

Depends...from what i remember when i looked into it a few years back it depends on the quality you want...

There are heaps of independant luthiers here that make beautiful weissenborns out of local timbers and such, however they are pricey.

Your other option would be cole clark guitars who make the lapsteels ben harper uses. They're a great aussie company, and I think their lapsteels are a bit cheape than custom made jobs. check out http://www.coleclarkguitars.com/

Whats your price range?

well its not gonna be a pricerange, its gonna be a timeframe. because im getting a weissenborn. the cheapest i could find them onliene is 675, so i guess ill wait until then

those lapsteels arent what im looking for. i want a PURE acoustic lap steel.
i thought maybe because theyre all made over there that you might be able to find them used in shops etc.
but ive never been to australia, so i wouldnt know

keep your eyes peeled, if you see one for like around 4 in decent condition, buy it and i swear to god ill buyit from you and pay to have it shipped.
