Ya the GE resembles alot of qualities the rosewood usually does. I have been trying to decide for a while if i liked the D-28 Marquise (rosewood) or the D-18GE (mahogany) better. I sat in guitar center for 3 hours playing the two. I liked the fact that the D-28 Marquis had that overpowering bass sound, the only bad thing was that it was so powerful you lost alot of the mids. The D-18GE however still had alot of bass (ALMOST as musch as the Marquis, it was very, very close) and had ringing mids that where very distinctive and clear and overall was a very balanced guitar. I was willing to sacrifice a little bit of the bass sound to have and overall better soudning guitar, but like I said, this GE is a cannon and still has alot of bass like the Marquise. I would suggest that you try out the GE because it has taken many Rosewood lovers (Like me) and shown a mahogany that will kill most rosewoods guitars. Plus i have a rosewood 714ce and i figured i should add a mahogany to the collection for more variety. If in the future i have the money to blow on another guitar, i might look to the Marquis, but like i said, the only thing that turned me off was the lack of midrange.
