its made for live playing, not recording... if you want quality recordings get a condensor

The 0db and -10db switch is to cut the volume going to the mixer. It's useful when recording at high volumes. The other one is a bass roll off switch. If your instrument has an emphasized bass frequency response ("boom"), you use this to roll off the low bass frequency response.
