Condenser mic for recording guitar

I don't have any personal experience with it but I've heard great things about the Rode NT-1 and it's right at $200.

My guitar instructor uses this USB mic to make quick recordings and I think it sounds pretty damn good.

its made for live playing, not recording... if you want quality recordings get a condensor

Miguel, I bought the SE2200 or whatever it is and love it. Can you help me to fully understand the two switches on the front and how to use them to ther full potential? Thank you very much man!

What do the two switches say? I'm guessing one says, "-10 db" or something. Flipping that from 0 will cut the signal, as to not overload the mic. A person using a mic at home will likely not need such an option, unless you're micing an amp or something. I don't know about the other one.

Yeah, it's just recording an acoustic guitar or vocals. One is that 0 and -10 switch. The other is a thing that is like - and then /- where the / is a tail off of the -. Sorry if that is confusing.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I have that on my pencil condensors and I have yet to ascertain what it's used for.

The 0db and -10db switch is to cut the volume going to the mixer. It's useful when recording at high volumes. Like when you're recording an amp.

The other one is a bass roll off switch. If your instrument has an emphasized bass frequency response ("boom"), you use this to roll off the low bass frequency response.

Yes, most definitely. Like I said, I haven't perfected it with knowing when to cut which switch for what, but I love the sound!

Specs don't look bad, and MXL mics ain't half-bad sounding either. You could certainly do worse.
