Heres my Larri

Image

Its a 2001 OM-09 with Flamed Maple back and sides. I bought brand new a few months ago for $1150 and I'm getting a Matrix II installed next week. This is the second best guitar Ive ever played under the HD-35, but for half the price, its worth it. Beautiful handmade everything, there isn't one bad thing I can say about Larrivee guitars. Every single one is a amazing.

Ever thought about putting a Larrivee Beveled Pickguard on that? The OM's look amazing with them on. I actually bought one for my Cort which is a similar shape. Looks good.

Try...
Maury
http://www.maurysmusic.com/

Also try,
Jon
http://myfavoriteguitars.com/

These are the two top Martin dealers around. They both gave me incredible quotes on a Martin D-41 Special, which was probably about $100-200 less than Eldery quoted me. Also, these guys have the best customer service, which is very hard to find now a days. I called Jon about a question about a guitar. Anyway, his line was busy or he was busy at the moment, so I hung up and didnt leave a message or anything. About 5 minutes later I get a call back from Jon, saying "Sorry I missed your call etc....) I highly recommend talking to Maury and Jon, before purchasing a guitar.

I recommend the Martin DC-16RGTE AURA

2001 came with a clear pickguard. I wanna get it removed though and get the beveled one. Ill prolly get the Luthier to slap it on when I go to get my pickup.

If you're a bassy guy, which I assume you are because you're into Martins, Larrivees will not let you down. Even my Flame Maple has enormous sound. I can only imagine what a darker wood would be like. Seriously check them out.

im gonna have to go play some for myself. There are a bunch of great custom shops in my area (greenwich village). im a phone call away from ordering my DC-16RGTE AURA but based on your recommendations ill have to play a larrivee, or ill always wonder if i made a mistake.

ill be honest i dont like the look of their cutaways, but that can be forgotten with a beautiful sound. It looks like a friggin stub.

I want rosewood, and the ones in my price range seem to be their "recording series". Do u know the main difference between this and their rosewood artist series, other then a $1000 in list price.

To get a martin for 1380 that is rosewood and has the best pickup available in it is a hard deal to beat.

I've seen my guitar in Rosewood, a 2004 brand new for $1250. List prices on the site are not any indication of actual prices. The BBand pickup is pretty good. I like it better than the ES, but an aftermarket will obviously be better.

Larrivee isnt really a company the calibur of Martin or Taylor. I doubt you can find good ones in any online dealer.

The difference between the recording series(03's) and artist series(09's) guitars are mostly cosmetic differences. The most noticable difference is the finish. The 03's have a satin finish and the 09's have a gloss. Also the rosette on the 03's is wood and on the 09's it's abalone. The 09's also tend to have the nicest woods but better looking doesn't correlate to better sounding. I have two larri's both 03's and they hold their own with any guitar tonewise.

You might keep your eye out for a D-60. It's one of Larrivee's traditional series guitars and I've heard nothing but raves about it. Even from Martin lovers.

These are some good online dealers.

and here's a link to a D-09 for sale.

i just spoke with a guy at guitar adoptions, and he was saying what you guys are saying...more guitar for the same or less money then a martin. for cutaways theres the LV-09R and LV-03R, main difference being a gloss finish. i dont really need gloss finish on the back and sides, i almost like the sound without it more.

he could give me a LV-03R and put a LR BaggsIMIX pickup in it for under 1200. he said hes not impressed with AURA. anyone know anything about this LR Baggs IMIX? he said its better then the bband, so he carries alot of his Larrivee's without electronics and then installs IMIX's for people.

i dont know IMIX
but IMHO LR baggs makes the best acoustic pick up out there. both aftermarket or stock. so id say go for it.
