I played the t5 a little yesterday. It is a beautiful guitar. I didnt plug it in though. Still has some decent volume unplugged. I still have not played the chet. Still havent even seen one in person yet. No one has one. Even music123 doesnt have one in stock. By the was music123 has them listed for $1549 but if you call them they say they are selling them for $1398. I think I will get the chet when they come in. My situation is that I want a quiet guitar to play at night when my son is sleeping. During the day doesnt matter. I think the t5 unplugged is still too loud for what I want. I think the chet will be better for me in that respect. I still want a nice acoustic sound. If the chet doesnt sound the way I want it the Fishman company is a couple of towns over. I read in another post of someone sending their chet there and getting it setup like Daves.

by saying that, and no offense but have you ever heard the sound of an acoustic?
Have you played the T5 yet, or are you still going off the sound clips and vids?

ive played and reviewed it doesnt sound a thing like an acoustic, infact it sounds terrible all around, now have you played one yet or are you still going off the sound clips and vids?

and yes the chet has a nice acoustic sound plugged in, and if you want more yes fishman will set it up using the same guy who did daves guitar. actually you can shoot fishman and email and theyll tell you all the electronic specs on daves guitar.

Yes I have and I think for the body size....that's the sound that you're gonna get. I like it. You can't expect the greatest ever acoustic sound from a body that is shallower than my Strat.

godin makes, well made seagul makes them now, semiacoustics with a chambered body with a much better sound.... also plugged in is where it counts, this isnt a guitar for sitting around on the beach and jamming with no amp, its for the stage and the sound doesnt cut it there. personally the one i played sucked in my opinion, maybe yours didnt or who knows, agree to disagree?

oh and also if you get the chet and think the sound could be better ok, you can get it customized for whatever sound you want... the t5 too bad, taylor wont change a thing even on personal request. there are no options after you buy it. also id doubt many guitar techs would touch a t5 since they have such a new and complicated wiring.

i'm just speculating but if you're in the market for a T5 or a chet, then you must be somewhat of an experienced guitarist (or a cat with a lot of money to spend). with that said, you probably already have a decent acoustic and or electric. so, if you want to jam in silence at night buy a cheap ass electric. if you want to JAM at night, throw in a cheap amp and plug some headphones into it. that would be way cheaper than a T5 or chet. i just never heard of someone buying a $1000+ guitar just to play quietly. then again, if you want a T5 or a Chet, buy one. shit, if you got the cash you might as well get both. just my opinion.

well maybe not. maybe hes looking to get a really good guitar has some money and the unplugged noise level is an important factor. so it comes down to these two, if it were just playing quietly at night he would just get an epi chet off ebay for $200

Playing quietly at night is a factor but I wanted an acoustic sound when I could plug in. I tried the electric route and I just dont like the sound. I actually ordered the epi chet and it being delivered today. That might be everything I need. But if quality is an issue I will just spring for the gibson. I am not a great player by any means. I am just fortunate enough to be able to buy a nice guitar if I want to. I appreciate all of the input.

Thanks
Erik

I have always had good luck with epiphones. I have had several and they all sounded great. I never had any quality issues either. The sg I got needed a setup to prevent some string buzz but a lot of guitars need that. I dont know why so many people put them down. I wonder if the people who do have actually tried them. Either way they work for me.

Filmdude,

Did you put acoustic strings on your epi chet? If so which ones?

Thanks

well lets look at other companies with rip offs of their mother companies, squire for one, jasmine for another.... then epiphone, if you cant afford a great one, its better than many
