Yes. It's made of wood, like your acoustic guitar. It can crack, split, and warp. It's wood. Also, unless you have a SECURE area with constant good humidity (no temperature changing or humidity changing at all, day and night), you should always keep it in it's case when not playing.
I learned this the hard way, and had to have my guitar adjusted a few times to get it back to normal.

can the use of the room humidifier be discontinued as the seasons change and humidity levels increase?

How often do you need to have a humidifier in it? note.. i live in cold climate with heat on 24/7. can i just leave it in over night and take out during the day when i play it?
remember its not how hot your room is or the place you keep your guitar, its how humid it is.. how much humidity it has which is different, thats how much moisture is in the air

most heating systems work by running hot water through pipes, i think they up the humidity a smidge.
not that what you said is wrong
