bone saddles--big difference?
there isnt too much involved in installation, like just take off the string and replace it in most cases the strings hold it on

is this including the saddle? If it is then it seems to be a reasonable deal. If it's installation only you should be able to get it done for less than that.i-am-me wrote:well i think i'm gonna go ahead and do this...but i'm too afraid to do it myself. i coudln't live with myself if i ruined my guitar. lol.
is 50 bucks too much to ask for a bone saddle installation?
hahaha i just read the beginning of the thread, i was a pompous ass! imean what i said was true, but damn.
when i did say that i had only read abouth the subject, since then i have actually done one and the stuff about messing up the in saddle pickup is hard to do... its just a metal plate all you have to do is make sure its centered and the whole saddle is touching it.

He's asking if that's saddle+installation, or if it's just installation.i-am-me wrote:what do you mean? i'm going to give him my guitar, and he will give it back to me in however long with a bone saddle in it. if you mean is he going to make it, i assume so.hcole wrote:is this including the saddle? good deal. is the saddle pre fabbed or is he going to make you one?hcole wrote:sounds reasonable then.i-am-me wrote:saddle plus installation.
If it is a pre-fabbed one you might want to find out if he is going to shave the bottom at all to get your action how you want it. I mean, you need to do it now if you plan on doing it.

well i just called him and he said that he's making it himself. and he said it matter of factly...."oh of course..." i really like this guy. he's been in this business for a long long time and he does a lot of professional repair work for martin and other brands. he's even done work for a shit load of very famous guitarists.czech wrote:good deal. is the saddle pre fabbed or is he going to make you one?hcole wrote:sounds reasonable then.i-am-me wrote:saddle plus installation.

he said that a set up is 60 bucks, so that would go on top of the bone saddle if i want to do that. i'm gonna take it in, and he'll take a look and we'll see from there i think. i'm excited.

How did this even become a discussion about under saddle pickups? She just wanted to know if bone saddles make a difference.
yes lol. and it shouldn't be too expensive to have some one at a shop do it for you, if not free. Sanding them down to make sure the action is right on your guitar is the only tricky part.
and you are an ASS praisedave

anyways we began discussing whether or not mikey could do the installation himself, and i said that an undersaddle pickup would make it more difficult.
