In fact, I'd rather play a cigar box strung with rubber bands.
you talk about cigar boxes strung with rubber bands like they are bad things, I've written some of my best stuff on a ceezit box with some rubber bands on it

I second this, I just bought an Ibanez artwood guitar that I love. AW100CE. $550 out the door with a hard shell case. Sound quality almost rivals the low end taylors IMHO. I can make this claim cuz I have a taylor 310 too. Right now i'm playing my ibanez the most.

Well the Ibanez I have i bought for 300. But really 550 is pretty low end compared to Taylors and Martins and such.

I agree low end Ibanez will sound okay. You do not really get into really decent guitars until you are willing to spend 700 or more. If you have a guitar I suggest keep with it and save until you get one you'll love.

I've played some pretty nice inexpensive Seagulls. Solid woods and nice construction

Yeah, I agree. You can get a prett decent seagull for a few hundred bucks. They are pretty impressive for the money. I still love the Martin D-15, too, for a reletively low price.
