ive played it, first time i considered buying it.

fatjack, ive played both in comparison, and yes the gibson is better in sound, but what would i do if i got the gibson? throw in a fishman. same thing i plan to do to the epi, and add a new bridge to get a clearer sound. there are more subtle differences but i dont think theyre worth the extra $1200.

i dont think you realize where im coming from...

the reason i so despise epiphone's is not fro their sound, but for their inferior tuning mechanisms. all epiphone/gibson guitars have problems with tunings mechanisms, but epiphones have some inferior shit. you will go out of tune constantly and it will get annoy as all hell

I dunno about that..I've never owned a gibson/epi long enough to tell if they go out of tune or not.. But my dad's 79 Gibson J-45 is amazing and never drops out of tune..maybe it's due to these ones are newer and less quality..

i was actually planning on replacing them anyway, not because they go out, but ive seen them with the gold flaking off, and being just the i think brass base, i wanted to put in all gold tuners to it.

When I played an Epi Chet, I put it right back up. I hated it. When I played the Gibson, I liked it. Now, other than Epi's new Masterbuilt line and their Elite line, when they are copying a gibson guitar and making a epi out of it, it's not a good guitar. I do suggest that if you want a gibson guitar badly, but don't have money at the time, I say to buy an epi but save up money so that when you have enough, trade the epi in with money to get the gibson.

Now, when Epiphone makes a guitar from their own line, and not copying a Gibson, they are good. That's why I like the Epiphone Casino. It's design and such was actualy created before Gibson bought Epiphone. the beatles eventualy got 3 of them, and John and Paul used them from then on. Paul still uses his, and it's his favorite electric guitar. Granted, the guitar isn't as great quality wise as it was in 1965, it's still a good guitar.

Also, owning a MK, and loving it, I say go with the MK. I've already told you this, though, lol. ;)

im not big on epiohone either, i cringe when i see a good guitarist with one, but as i told that pussy prick josh  id save up and get the gibson buy next july, im getting a job soon btw... but i might be going to europe next summer, and if i do ill need money, and if i dont go, ill need a car soon where after... so im pretty much gettin a job, and puttin 75-80% of my monthly paycheck into the bank... sooo getting a gibson right now isnt much of an option, but i do need a guitar soon...
