It's my friend's book actually and I just saw the Taylor stuff. If you have a Taylor, I'll ask him and tell you what to expect.jsgksu wrote:do you have this book, or an online link to look stuff up in it, Id like to know how much my guitar is worth just out of curiousitycharliemike wrote:Just so you guys know:
8th Edition of Acoustic Guitar Blue Book has the 414ce listed at $1550 for 100% condition (which the guitar is). So I'd be getting raped for about $440 and not $990
$1990 for a Taylor 414ce with Koa back/sides and Sitka top

The thing about this book is that there's no "year demarcation" so if it's a 1995 or a 1999 or a 2003 it's all the same price. Just FYI as I didn't realize that.jsgksu wrote:Its a 2003 Taylor Summer Limited Edition 410ce (L2 I think) it has Rosewood back and sides, all gloss and the es system. Im not looking to sell it so if its a pain to look it up dont worry, Im just curious how good my deal was. Id called its condition brand new, I baby it.
$1450 is for 100% condition.
I have a feeling this is for the older model though ... It mentioned Fishman ... I don't know if Expression makes a difference.

I would think the ES would make it more expensive, I paid $1200 for it regarldess so I feel good. Its not 100% but I wouldnt call it less than 90% for sure, and Ive added/plan to add a few things to it to improve it cosmetically and its sound.charliemike wrote:The thing about this book is that there's no "year demarcation" so if it's a 1995 or a 1999 or a 2003 it's all the same price. Turns out the guitar is a 1999 after all, and it's also a 414kce ... but it's been sitting in a humidity-controlled storage room at the shop with his other high-end guitars for 5 years.
So it's brand-new in that sense ... which is why it looks perfect. And the case was dusty as shit which would seem legit.
However, the best I could do was $1890 and I still think that's a bit high for a 414 ... If it was a 714ce or 814ce I'd be playing it in my place right now
I called Taylor and they said that they made 290 in '99.
If I sound like I'm trying to talk myself out of it, you're right
Damn!
