That isn't how it works. . .

Not sure what the number is with guitars, but I know that with electric bass guitars, you'll find the point of diminishing returns to be around the $1000-$1400 range. For example, a $1000 bass might possibly be twice as good as a $500 bass. But once you clear $2000 you're really starting to talk about details, and in many cases those details will be subjective. I might like my $1000 Lakland better than a $3000 Warwick because I prefer the tone, the feel of the neck, balance, etc. etc., but by that point, there really isn't going to be much discussion about "quality" because the craftsmanship of the typical $1000 bass is already going to be very precise.

I'm sure that point of diminishing returns on an acoustic guitar may be much higher, but I can't imagine that after you've owned and played a $2000 guitar that you're going to be completely "blown away" by something that would even cost $10,000. I'm not saying it isn't possible, it just isn't likely.

i dont know if i'd spend more than 2000 even if i had money flying out of my ass. it just seems way too much to spend 10k on a guitar, like getting charged 10 dollars for a small soda... in the end, that 10k guitar is just some pieces of wood glued together
I agree with Fatjack, there comes a dollar amount were you have to stop and realize you are just paying for wood, glue and a few other things.

Right now I only have about $150, and that's not for a guitar... But let's say I sell some scripts and have $200,000 in a year. Then I would say $1500 would be my limit, and that would include the amp. and all the accessories, because it would have to be an acoustic/electric with a decent unplugged sound and plugged in it would just be the greatest-sounding guitar I would ever need. :D

I dont think over 5k is unreasonable for something like a W-65 or a D-42K but it is overly expensive, as is any Taylor or Martin, 10k would be my limit
