Yeah man, I was well aware of your explanation. I just don't think it's the greatest one out there. I think that Taylor and Martin are both very fine and respected guitar companies and I don't believe that Martin could commit a sin in the guitar world. Besides when you get down to it, who gives a shit about what kind of guitar you have anyway, as long as you can play? I recently saw a very talented folk/rock trio out of Texas called Slowreader and the two guitarists were playing mid-grade Yamahas. Talent is not equivalent to your pocketbook.shane wrote:i played a D-15 yesterday and i was disgusted to say the least. it was horrible. it sounded so incredibly bad that i wanted to smash it right then and there but i didnt want to pay for it. it is a sin in the guitar world.

this is true. hendrix (if he were alive) could probably make a squier sound better than i could make a les paul classic

I had a really nasty reply written considering how unbelievably idiotic and obviously uneducated this statement is.
But I'm too nice.

ive already explained to myself about how horrible its condition was. theres no reason that that should be considered uneducated. im talking about that instrument, not that model. thats the only one ive played.

How in the hell are we supposed to know that you were talking about the condition of that particular guitar? Not once in your post did you say anything to that effect, you just said "I played a D-15 yesterday. It was horrible." That certainly sounds like you are saying D-15's are crap. Which they are most certainly not. Beats any guitar for 3 times its price.

how much i dont know? dude i was laughing at the comment. i like martins, i do. i played a DC-16RGTE that i liked a lot actually. id sooner get a 814ce, but it was a very nice guitar. honestly people need to lighten up here, stop taking things so personally. ive played a lot of guitars from both martin and taylor, and ive found some bad ones from both sides. i just know that taylor sounds and feels better to my tastes. i dont take it personally when someone says they dont like taylor because its their loss. why is it that you take offense when i say i like taylor better and didnt like the D-15 i played? whats with the "only confirms how much you dont know" comment? ive spent a lot of time with guitars because im hoping to make a career out of it, i know more about them then a lot of people do. i dont appreciate the comments you made because youre the one who really has no idea about what i know. anyway, im spent.

Well, I said I was done, but I lied.
Here's what I gotta say:
A lot of people come on these boards looking for help and advice. When Shane makes comments such as the one on page 5 of this thread and this one while having had played 1 D-15 that he has said was obviously in bad condition... what are people supposed to think? Why don't you let the people who actually OWN THEM give the damn reviews? I have said in the past that, in my opinion, the Taylor tone just doesn't match that of Martin's. I've read that Taylor has reworked the tones, so hopefully I will like them better now - haven't gotten to play one yet.
The reason I said uneducated was because you were stating quite explicitly that D-15's were "absolutely horrible" despite the fact that you didn't really know - I consider that to be naive and uneducated, yes.
Well, I've obviously riled up some feathers now, so I leave you with this:

Oh, sorry.

it was his opinion...when I read everyone elses stuff here, I know to take it for what it is worth...Shane said he hated the sound of the D-15 he played...chill out man...so what if he said worse? That is his opinion...I am sure you have one or two of them yourself...
