X-Lights, Light, Mediums, Heavy? What's the best? I think I am going to get D'Addarios this time. Please don't debate the brand, just what size...

well, depends what you want. the lighter strings will be easier to play with but the heavier strings will have better tone and can hold the tone under heavy strumming. the lighter strings will sound muddy if you strum them as hard. I'm sure Tim Reynolds uses pretty light strings cause of his fast style and the bends are easier. I prefer mediums because they sound better on my guitar and I'm not bothered by the action. I like the sound. What kind of guitar do you have? spruce or cedar top? what body style is it? this can determine what size strings will best suit the guitar.
good, and you?

There is no such thing as the best in gauges , its all a personal reference , personally i use .10's and .11's , i won't go higher because it gets a little too dark for me , maybe i'll try .09's sometime just for the fun of it :)

PS D'Addario is a good choice

Ok, thanks a lot for everyone who helped. My action was pretty high on my guitar, so I put lights on to counteract it and whatnot, but now my hand is stronger. I think I will up to mediums. Thanks again!

also, want to say that if you put high gauge strings on, and they aren't the right gauge your guitar can handle, and your neck can pay the price, so make sure you get the right gage, or you will have to adjust your neck.

Unless you like the high action (some do), my advice would be to play worn out strings for a while and take the money you saved on not buying several sets of strings and have the action adjusted.
