anyway, I like D'Addario phosphor bronze mediums. They have the best tone out of any strings I've ever tried.
good, and you?

funny..i was gonna post the same question this morning.
I have a purty Takamine EG531c. ive had it for about two years now, and have been only using Dean Markley Medium lights (out of habit i guess). I feel though that its not getting the full potential of my guitar.
Any recommendations for MY guitar specifically?
Thanks folks

try D'Addario phos/bronze mediums. do your fingers sweat a lot? if your are hard on your strings you may want to try some coated ones that will last longer without turning your fingers green or without turning black so fast. I heard the Martin SP coated strings were good, and you probably heard all about the Elixirs. anyway, if your fingers don't sweat and are relatively easy on strings, go for D'Addario mediums and I guarantee you won't be dissappointedHash wrote:funny..i was gonna post the same question this morning.

Hashunless of course you find them too hard to play cause they are heavy, but you'll get used to them and love them because they sound so great......I'm rambling

Actually...my fingers sweat like a M!@#$^%$ F^*&@@$...and they DO get all green. I tend to change (or SHOULD change) my strings about once a month--i play lots too. I keep on heard about D'Addarios...ill give a shot to the mediums (even though i sweat a lot)...but..do addario medium lights sound close to the same?

yeah, you might wanna try D'Addario EXP (extended play) because they're coated and can withstand the sweating and shit. as far as string guage goes - the heavier the guage the better the tone - however if you have a great guitar like a high end Martin or Taylor or another kind, it'll have great tone with rabit wire for strings. so lights will be great for them since they're easier to play and will give better action. Anyway, I've only seen two guages for D'Addario in the stores - medium and light. Martin SP+ mediums I heard were very good also and they're coated as well.
I hope this helps in your choice of strings.

if you want to save money on strings, check this site out:
http://www.samusic.com
From the section on the left hand part of the page, select strings, and then select the type of string you want- D'Addario, Elixer, and John Pearse. You can buy them in bulk which saves you a ton of money, and the shipping is free with these guys. You can get 10 sets of the D'Addario mediums for less than $50, right to your doorstep, which is unbeatable.

Which D'Addario strings are u referring to? im lookin through their website now, and theyve got several types.
Ill give the uncoated ones a chance first..if i like them..ill give a shot to the coated ones (cause they cost a wee bit more)
again...all this help is much appreciated.

I'm not gravedigger, but I know what he's referring to. The uncoated strings are the Phosphor Bronze Mediums.
