Are they all solid? I picked one up the other day at a music store and didn't realize it was solid wood. I thought it was just like a regular guitar, except without the soundhole. But this one was a solid block of wood. It was an Epiphone.

Are they all like this or are the Gibson's hollow inside?

Also, everybody says "Dave's chet is totally modified, and if you buy one it won't be at all the same" How is it modified? What is different?

I have been the proud owner of my chett for 3 years now

It is a chambered body, has beautiful action, and has attack like you wouldn't believe - all with relatively no feedback!

Any more info you need on it? IM me at "kingdice86" on AIM

I read a post recently (within the last month i want to say) on another messegeboard... either nancies or antsmarching or anyoneseenthebridge... someone bought a chet atkins and had gibson refit it to daves specs... I think he said that the pickup was a different one... he spoke with the tech that set up daves guitars, so i'm pretty sure he got it to be like dave's... i know that this is a vague response, but it should help... you can either search the other websites or try and contact gibson...

just a thought

Just for the record, I wasn't askin' about the Epiphones, I've heard plenty of people say "don't get the epiphone chet" and now I've heard it a few more times.

Pretty cool about the guy talkin to the Gibson tech though. But I don't see myself being able to afford a $1000 anytime soon. And I probably won't get a chet if I do get the money. But if I happen to win the lottery......

It was me that talked to a technician over at Fishman. He explained to me the mods (or I should say mod) that was made to dave's chet. He was the actual person who did them and he only changed the pickup to a Fishman Matrix II. According to him, there is no truth to the stories of the neck being replaced. Just a pickup, exactly the same modification made to the taylors and martins.
