The drummer of my band is planning to invest some money (around $400-500)!
He's looking for a set of mics: something like 1 kick, 1 snare, 4 tom, 2 overheads (I know nothing about this)
Further, he wants to buy: crash 16'', splash 10'' and china 19''
What are the best options for this?
Sorry if this is too much info to ask, but maybe we can develop another instructional thread...

For the mics I would use sure drum mics, or for a more inexpensive set maybe CAD.
As for cymbals, my favs are a 16' Zildjian A Custom crash, 10' Zildjian A Custom Splash, and a 19' K Hybrid china

I have experience using shur mics on my drum set and they sound pretty good and arent too expensive. I have mostly Sabians and one Zildjan, you cant go wrong with either..mainly depends on personal sound preference.

Im not sure how much $500 is going to get you, but Cymbals can be expensive. Also, when play set, do everything possible not to hit the mic. Very loud and irritating.
