Taylor 214-E opinions
Hey y'all. I'm new to the board and I've got a question. Anybody out there who owns or has played the Taylor 214e what do you think of it compared to the 314 series. Let me know

Re: Taylor 214-E opinions
I wouldn't buy any Taylor below a 300 series. At that point, you're just paying for a mediocre guitar with a brand name on it. I believe they use laminates in the 100 and 200 series. For that money, look at Larivees.partyboy7903 wrote:Hey y'all. I'm new to the board and I've got a question. And yes, I have played both. I own a 314ce, and have no complaints. I didn't spend enough time playing the 200 series, I was immediately turned off by the sound.

the 214 is an entry level taylor and it sounds just ok. For the money consider an alvarez or a larrivee which both use higher quality tone woods and use scalloped bracing. taylors sound great buy you gotta pay a lot more for it.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

I agree with Matt in Belloit, who agrees with Mr. Buffalo..get a Washburn/Tak/Alv. Just listen to it when you play it (214)...usually sounds pretty muddymattinbeloit wrote:RunsWithBuffalo wrote:the 214 is an entry level taylor and it sounds just ok. The 100 and 200 Series aren't made of real (solid) wood.
get a Larrivee

Agreed. I found this acoustics store downtown and this guy sold probably 10-15 different Larrivee models. I played most of them looking to be blown away. They are great guitars with their own amazing sound. But I still feel Martin builds the best guitars for strumming. Although, I would def consider a Larrivee if continuing my education in fingerstyle.i like tictacs wrote:i like my 214
it plays real well, but the sound isn't amazing. not bad, but not superb. sounds decent, really.
i've played some larivees, they played like shit but sounded pretty good, so you should try out each guitar before you buy it.

that is the bck and sides. On the 214, solid sapele adds depth to the sparkle of a Sitka top, filling in a full range of tonal possibilities.
oh, and the 200 series is way over priced. i would never suggest paying that much for that little of guitar.
