I own a few Alvarez guitars and a Takamine. I'm in love with all my guitars. Except the Ibanez AW100. It's beautiful, but it sounds like my butt.
Actually, I picked up an Alvarex RD8BR that sounds pretty good for the price. I basically bought it to leave at my girls house when I visit her. Kinda of a back up guitar that I could leave.
My Tak is a EG334SC. Pretty good stuff for a $600 guitar. I'm having trouble deciding what my new high end will be for a wedding present.
Probably the old reliable D-28.
In conclusion, Taks or Alvarez for the price. You may want to check out that Alvarez that's made of Dao. The AD60K or something along those lines. Sweet looking, and I bet it sings.
