vocal effect pedal?

Unread post by waffle_house_jam » Thu Apr 20, 2006 12:20 am

Does anyone know of a vocal effect pedal that makes you sound like you're speaking through a heavily distorted megaphone? That's the only way I can think to describe it, I'll try to find an example if people don't know what I'm talking about.

I was actually talking about an effect for just vocals, not having to do with guitar. For instance listen to Tool's 'Eulogy' from about 2:15 to 2:37.

A simple way is to run your vocal mic through a mic pre with 1/4" out and run that through the pedal chain. You can use reverb, distortion, whatever.

On my Yahama mixer there is an effect called "Radio Voice" which I think is pretty much what your talking about...look for somthing of that nature...if your going to get vocal effects you pretty much have to get a multi effects board/processor...but anyhow I think thats the effect your looking for

Would something like this work?

I've got a multi effects pedal but I don't have any way to put the mic through it.

Well, I got the adapter at Radio Shack yesterday. It works well, I can get some neat reverb and other effects through my normal guitar pedal. The only problem is, when I try to do distortion, I get a ton of feedback. I set a gate threshold which solves some of the problem but I'm still getting a good bit of feedback- any suggestions?
