Guitar in the $300 range
I've already got alot of ideas on this but I still want some feedback incase there is anything I am missing. My friend is comming to visit from taiwan and has about $300 to buy a new guitar. She's smaller so I'm not sure if a dread is the best thing for her, she has a really cheap like $50 dread right now but is getting preatty good and needs to upgrade. So i'm going to probably be looking at smaller guitars, although if you know of a dread that has great sound in that range let me know. I'm thinking Alvarez, Blueridge, Washburn, Breedlove- something in the atlas series would be in that range, seagull. I don't know much about these namebrands so I'm going to just do it by what I think sounds good and plays well. Also I'm hoping to get her a solid wood although if it sounds good i might consider a laminate, i was blown away by the martin DM's sound for being a laminated guitar. Any help is great, thanks.

Ya I thought about the Taylor big baby, i thought the sound was preatty good for the price range, but are they that low, I thought they where around $400 US. I will definantly take a look at one, but If I can find a solid wood one that sounds better that would probably be better, chances are she is going to have this guitar for a long time.

I'm not sure how expensive they are at the stores, but I saw new ones at ebay for around the $300 mark. I bought mine second hand in Canada, can't really remember how much I paid, but it was less than half of what I'd pay here. Guitar prices are ridiculous here. For example, a Martin D-18 costs well over $2000...mattinbeloit wrote:Ya I thought about the Taylor big baby, i thought the sound was preatty good for the price range, but are they that low, I thought they where around $400 US.
